Once Your shipment has been prepared for loading, it will be placed inside one or more containers, selected depending the mode of transportation., the size of Your shipment and Your destination, as wooden lift vans, steamship containers or air containers.
Wooden lift vans are wooden or plywood containers with skids that is normally loaded by a forklift. They are lined with water resistant materials and caulked to prevent leakage.
A steamship container resembles a motor freight trailer and usually is constructed of steel. Ranging from 1.100 to 2.200 cubic feet, the containers are supplied by the steamship companies.
To transport small shipments by air, the most common containers are tri wall boxes. Constructed of triple layer corrugated cardboard, the boxes range in size from 5 to 100 cubic feet. When sending a large shipment by air, goods normally are crated instead of boxed. The crates must comply with dimensional specifications to meet air cargo requirements.
